Banlung-Provinz
We have decided to first in the still relatively un-touristy East go-more specifically in the Capital of the province of Ratanakiri.
The first surprise was the most delicious food and the super luxurious but cheap hotel room.
The city itself, however, had something other than a very scruffy charms no market, so we have made every day excursions. Special mention here of the fascinating volcanic lake is just outside the city, we have achieved with the bike. There we could swim all day splashing in the cool lake. That we loved so well, so we have directly spent 2 days there. Especially the many children who have got in touch with us somehow, even though they can not speak English, there were very impressed. Overall, we find the Khmers far the friendliest people. It is also pleasing that they speak compared to the Laotians quite good English.
Another highlight was the elephant riding and the two hour scooter ride there. This was an incredibly impressive experience, how have these massive animals slowly rocking set with us on their backs in motion. We could even had the luck that we all ride their own elephants. After an hour
ride through the forest, we were nevertheless glad to feel solid ground under their feet, elephant seals are not exactly the most comfortable means of transportation. Afterwards, our guide drove us through the woods to some small villages and plantations, and declared us all sorts of how people live there, etc. It was definitely Case, a very worthwhile trip.
After four days we took the bus to Kratie. It was a very uncomfortable ride, because of the swirling dust as we could hardly breathe. have
