part 54 of the series "Monster walls, mummies and mysteries"
by Walter-Jörg Langbein,
a penniless priest in charge of a small South African community. He teaching the children, organized school books for them. Medical care can not afford the poor. The priest organizes help as best he can. With pious sayings the children have not helped the white man of God ... But with regular school meals. can not pay the Indians to their priests. They make him gifts .... Pottery from ancient times, metal plates with strange symbols and drawings to bring him as much. To him they have confidence. Him they are grateful. They bring him, that archaeologists often look in vain ... And the result is a stunning collection of archaeological objects: not in the hallowed halls of a prestigious museum, but poor in the backyard of a church in Ecuador!

The church of "Maria Auxiliadora", the "helpful Mother of God", he built a small private museum. Luc guarantor in his "Encyclopedia of the forbidden archeology" (1): "There he presented a wide variety of indigenous cultures, which he received from friendly locals: ritual objects, ceramics, stone figures of gods and wood, and many other objects from the ritual area and lives of the indigenous tribes in Ecuador. "
Erich von Däniken, Swiss-selling author, was in 1968 with his book memories to the future "has become world famous. 1969 "came back" to the stars. On his travels he met the venerable Father Crespi. In 1972 he presented the collection in front of the priest in his book, Sowing and the cosmos. "

got Suddenly Crespi collection of artifacts into the light of world opinion. The world of scholars responded largely worldwide unanimously outraged! Father Crespi, a modestly dressed always very poor priest is valuable archaeological objects have collected? This could not vote. So were the many objects in the backyard of the "helpful Mother of God" to explain worthless junk to cheap fakes without any value.
Where that scientists have psychic abilities? Obviously! How else to explain that they could assess the items from Crespi's collection, but are not reached even in the near Cuenca in Ecuador? Over distances of thousands of miles they delivered their damning verdict.
20 years later I made my way to Ecuador. On the market in Cuenca, I talked - Father Crespi was ten years dead - the clergy. People always talked only with admiration and affectionate respect for him, who lived with them and shared their poverty. They revered him as a saint and asked the deceased in prayer for help. Still, they laid down flowers in his honor. And again I was told that Father Crespi a wealth of valuable archaeological artefacts from ancient times possessed.

Was there really this collection? Was it valuable? Or was it really only of worthless junk, the poor Indians the unsuspecting Crespi andrehten? Father Crespi was, were my primary research, was for years director of the Gold Museum of Cuenca. Should he have worthless rubbish collected? That seemed highly unlikely. And so I went in search of the collection of Father Crespi. I found one.
There were rumors that the "Banco Central" from Cuenca Crespi had bought stock. Critics doubted that. A reputable bank, so I got with my travel arrangements to hear, but do not buy worthless collection! Esteban Salazar, employees of the "Banco Central" told me on the spot: It's true! A significant part of Crespisammlung was after the death of the priest for 433 000 U.S. dollars have been bought!
Esteban Salazar led our small group - there were four - in the basement of the "Banco Central". Amazed we stood in front of thousands of artifacts. Thousands of Cheramikobjekten were well sorted to admire in neat shelves. "These objects are all from the Father Crespi Collection?" I asked. Esteban Salazar agreed. They graded the valuable items on the shape and size: small cups, bowls, vases. "Are these Old things? "I asked. "Some are just a few hundred years old .. others up to three thousand years, "
Obviously the critic from afar had premature Pater Crespi collection as" dismissed worthless junk. " Father Crespi has clearly thousands of archaeological objects owned, are in the truest sense of the word fit for the museum. 1982 Esteban Salazar hoped that at least some of these artifacts "soon" in a public exhibition to be shown. That has not happened until now.

| Prof. Fell translated this inscription |
Harvard professor Barry Fell (6.6.1917-21.4.1994) has excelled as an expert in deciphering ancient writings. Professor Fell, founder of the "Epigraphic Society" was, deeply involved with an object from the Crespi Collection. The triangular tablet with three lines with strange characters. Furthermore we see an elephant-like animal. At the top of the display of the sun shines.
Prof. Fell came to some surprising findings: The characters on the tablets are not meaningless characters. They belong to any known writing, can best be compared with those characters in were the third century BC in Thougga, Tunisia used. They were, for example, at a memorial cents Covers. If there counterfeiters in Ecuador have played with an ancient text? Professor Bell thought that was impossible. He managed to translate the short text: "The elephant that the Earth is based on the waters and they shake can" (2)
My résumé site. Father Crespi Collection contains thousands of artifacts that are clearly genuine and not faked are plump. These valuable findings have been purchased by the "Banco Central" for a small fortune and are located in the basement of the prestigious financial institution. Almost thirty years are Father Crespi had elapsed death. Officially, the archaeological treasures to this day neither cataloged yet been issued to the public! Why not?
sparked worldwide from Erich von Daniken in 1972 discussions on the Crespi Collection. A sensation was caused metal objects, metal plates with mysterious drawings and strange inscriptions. Erich von Daniken had photographed a number of these tables and illustrated in his book sowing and Cosmos. " 20 years later I went in search ... What was to Crespi's death to happen?
